Using FormSG as a Data Source
1. My FormSG responses are not generating completed documents. What's wrong?
You may be having trouble with your FormSG data source for various reasons:
-
You did not insert your webhook into your FormSG form, and enable retries
-
You may have entered an incorrect email into the FormSG field.
If you are not able to insert a webhook into your FormSG form, check if your FormSG form was created in "Storage Mode" instead of "Email Mode". Email mode is unsupported.
The completed document may take some time to be generated and sent to you. If the document does not have any sensitive information, you may choose to send it to your personal email address, which is usually delivered much quicker than through the intranet.
You may also be unable to receive the completed document because the email might have been flagged as spam. To ensure emails from us do not go under your Junk E-mail/Spam folder in Outlook, follow these steps below.
Right click on the email from docCentral, under the "Junk" option, choose "Never Block Sender".
2. My document has not been completed properly! Why?
There are a few causes:
-
The placeholders and questions could have been mapped to the wrong questions. For example:
- IF Placeholder: The IF placeholder should be mapped to the options in the question
- All other Placeholders: The placeholders should be mapped to the name of the question.
-
You have entered an invalid input within your FormSG form
-
You have entered an invalid formula for the formula placeholder.
In any of the cases, re-check your FormSG form and/or your Word document to troubleshoot for the above errors.
3. Can I use one FormSG form to populate multiple templates I have simultaneously?
No. There is a strict pairing of one FormSG to one template at a time. Alternatively, you can combine the multiple templates you have into one consolidated word template. You can then make use of the IF conditional placeholders to segregate the various templates in the consolidated template and create your FormSG accordingly.
4. Why am I required to complete the Placeholder and Question Mapping even when my existing project is ported over from the old portal?
Do note that this step is optional if you have existing projects created before DocCentral's portal revamp, and if your project follows the square bracket placeholder mapping in FormSG.
The update to the placeholder and question mapping in the portal will not affect your current projects, which remain valid. You can continue using them without issue.
The purpose of this update is to enhance the user interface so that end users will no longer see square brackets in FormSG forms.
So long as you created a project and begin completing the Placeholder and Question Mappings in the portal, you will be required to map all the placeholders before continuing.
If you would like to proceed without completing the mappings, simply click on the "Remove all mappings" option at the top right of the Placeholder and Question Mapping section of the Data Sources page.

5. Can the same IF condition placeholder be repeated in more than one option?
For example, if [prog_1y] is the set condition for both 'Degree or higher qualifications' and 'Professional Certification (<$10,000),' the option chosen by users will be displayed in the generated document.
